Dash
Below are conditions and properties that dashing has. These properties affect everyone in the game
-
Everyone has mandatory dash frames that if not interrupted, won't allow you to block. This clip shows Felicia doing a back dash before Thanos' Power ball super hits. In order for her to block, she has to tap down back in order to cancel the dash animation.
- Turning around will not allow you to dash using PP; only F,F or B,B. This clip shows the frame where if Magneto dashed with PP, he'd get another dash in the same direction. This one shows the frame where if Magneto dashed with PP, he'd get HP because the character is doing his turn around frames. Finally, this clip shows, Magneto facing the other way, so if he dashes with PP, he'd dash the way he's facing.
- You dash slower when you're in front of someone standing. You dash faster when the opponent is in the air in front of you. Clip showing various speeds.
- Since everyone's block stun length isn't the same, characters must wait a certain amount of time before being able to dash. You can dash back if you're in block stun, however, it's kind of difficult because B+PP must be pressed simultaneously in order for the game to register back dash and not block + pp (which results in HP). This clip shows the differences between Magneto and Cable.
- When you switch sides with a character, timing a dash in the original way you were facing is difficult. This clip shows 3 different results of pressing PP.
- There are different types of dashes. However, there are 3 main ones with some exceptions.
- Some characters can't wave dash: Shuma-Gorath (backdash), Black Heart (both), Zangief can't back dash at all.
- You can't dash at all during FS.
- When the opponent gets knocked down, the frames of when they're falling allow you to dash fast; when they land on the ground, you won't go as far. When you OTG them and they start rolling again, you'll dash at normal speed. This clip shows Magneto dashing at normal speed after the otg hit, and Magneto dashing while they're on the ground.
- The reason wave dashing works: the game allows you to dash with PP while your character is going into their crouching animation. Trying to dash (PP) out of your 'while rising' frames will cause you to get HP; using F,F always works. This clip shows the frame where Magneto starts to crouch.
- If trying to do two PP-dashes in a row, you'll have to wait till the first dash completes its animation, if not, you'll get HP.
- Dashing gives your normal jump (not super jump) forward or backward momentum.
